PGA Professionals

The instruction at Western Turnpike is led by PGA professional Herb Moreland. Herb is a four time winner of the Northeastern New York PGA Teacher of the Year Award. He was a member of the National PGA Teaching Advisory Board from 1993 through 1996 and was elected to the Northeastern New York PGA Hall of Fame in 2005. During his 33 years at Western, he has enjoyed much success in teaching. His students include:

  • 45 Club champions
  • 17 Division I Scholarship athletes
  • 3 New York State Junior Girls Championships
  • A runner up in the United States Women’s Public Links Championship
  • 3 Northeastern Women’s Golf Association Championships
  • An All American woman and a men’s captain at Florida State University
  • 2 LPGA tour members: Moira Dunn and Kris Tamulis.

Kris Tamulis is in her tenth year on the tour and was 86th on the 2012 year end money list. Moira Dunn is beginning her twentieth season and was 91st on the 2012 year end money list. She won the Giant Eagle LPGA Classic in 2004. She also has three second place, two third place, and 23 top ten finishes. Moira is in 96th place on the LPGA’s all time money list.

 

A Class “A” PGA Professional, Casey is in his fourteenth year employed at Western Turnpike. Casey grew up in the town and graduated from Guilderland High School and the University at Albany with a degree in Business Administration. He has eight years experience instructing the Town of Guilderland Junior Golf Program. He will continue the Weekend Junior Golf Program in 2013 for resident and non-resident junior golfers. Casey is excited to continue instructing the popular adult clinics at Western Turnpike this year. In addition, he teaches individual lessons and looks forward to improving your game.
