Western Turnpike offers the most dynamic practice area in the Capital Region offering areas to work on all aspects of your game.
Driving Range – Our all-grass 35 stall driving range offers many different features to keep your practice sessions interesting and fun. Rather than a flat target area, our range offers several colored flags and yardage signs over gently undulating terrain for the first 150 yards, giving the golfer a good look at their target and a more realistic practice experience. Big hitters have no fear! Our range extends well beyond 300 yards, so if you can reach the end, break out the big stick and let it fly! Have you ever had the elements interfere with your practice? No need to worry about the sun in your eyes! Our range faces to the north north-east so the sun will be behind you almost any time of day. With the prevailing winds from your left, the range is guarded by many trees to minimize the winds effect on the ball. It is a rare day that you will find the wind from the northeast to knock down your shots.
Putting and Chipping Greens – The best way to keep your score down is with a good short game. To help you, we offer three full size putting and chipping greens. Two of our greens, with some very challenging hidden breaks, may be used to practice both putting and chipping. The third green is in our short game area.
Short Game Area – This area offers even more room to work on your short game where you can hit shots of up to 30 yards to a our third practice green. This green also has multiple holes to putt to as well as a green side bunker to practice getting your ball near the hole on the first try!
Year-round Practice – Did you know that Western Turnpike is one of the few facilities in the area to offer heated driving range facilities? That’s right! We have booths that have radiant heat to keep you warm even in the coldest of temperatures! The best part of having an outdoor winter facility is that you can use all of the clubs in your bag and see the entire flight of the ball! Stop by and get your practice in for spring or the much needed warm-up before your trip south!
